Should i rescue sten

It is not right that he is allowed to return home to complete his mission but for some reason the devs didn't give us any option there. Flurried "he should of kept attacking all around him until he was forcefully captured and not return to the zen like qunari attitude until you got the sword back for him.

Yes I also hope we can learn much more about the Qunari in DA2. Flurried- I also think the Devs came up short on Sten. I think they could have had a more compelling reason he wiped out the family than he simply paniced.

I understand the sword was everything to him, but he was sane enough to know the family was innocent, they had nothing to do with the sword and killing them, including the children accomplished nothing. But the more dramatic they made it, the more feeling the warden has to let Sten get redemption, but it also bothered me at the end of the game Sten goes scott free back home, he should have still paid some price for the murdered family.

In my view of Sten after travelling with him, after he helped defeat the blight he would have either gone into exile for what he had done or fallen on his sword, but that is just my opinion. I dont think he could have lived with himself once the blight ended and spending time with humans in Fereldan after what he had done.

Limduul talk , October 2, UTC. Didn't Alistair ask the Warden this same question in a slightly different sense? I will respond the way I responded in the game, "there's no reason to be frightened of Sten. I enjoy that once in a while he puts Morrigan in her place. I enjoy talking to him because he's straightforward and to the point. I didn't like him at first but I grew to like him. Not to mention that he's such a "Softy. He killed the family when he discovered that he, himself had died.

Not literally but you get my point. The fact that he has regret and surrendered himself shows that he deserves a second chance and to be torn apart by darkspawn, he doesn't deserve that.

Maybe Arl Howe does, but not Sten. On my current play through as a Dwarf Noble, I have Sten at maximum approval I think, and he's started referring to me as kadan whenever I speak to him, so I'm glad I saved him. You could also try stealing the key from the Revered Mother, but I find it easier to get him using the other methods. I just had leilana or whaever her name is in my party and she stood up for me and there you go.

User Info: kurosowa. You can donate money either five ten or thirty silver and she will give you the key also you can lie if your persuade is high enough and if you have leilana in your party and talk to her she will give you the key. User Info: weekendspecial. Save beforehand, it can be done without threatening her. User Info: winstonblues. She is in the chantry in that town of Lothering all the way in the back and turn right, you should see two Templars standing guard by her.

User Info: Kevin Having Leliana in your party helps but she isn't required. Dont kill him Like him in my party as a tank Ask the Rev Mother. She'll let him go. Ilja View Profile View Posts. Proceed as Craftian wrote. Discussion with Sten points to Revered Mother, when you talk about releasing him from the cage. With DA:O, discussions tell as much than entries. Sometimes even more. He interrogated nearly every delegation entering or leaving the port during the three years he was stationed there, and in most cases, his questions pertained to the common tongue. He couldn't understand how one could tell whether a word was being used as a noun or a verb, and wondered as to which limbs and other body parts were also actions.

After disappearing from outside notice for several years, the young Sten-to-be next surfaced during the Qunari assault on Tevinter in Dragon [1]. The Kathaban of the Qunari navy struck at the Tevinter mainland with a fleet of warships, and the entire beresaad kith was sent with them as a landing force.

Among them was a young karasaad who now commanded an excellent knowledge of the common tongue and even Tevene. The Kathaban's campaign initially made great progress, but was dealt a crushing blow when the Tevinter military retaliated en force. The Kathaban was forced to withdraw the fleet to Seheron, and the entire antaam was shaken by the defeat.

In the campaign's aftermath, the young beresaad officer voiced concerns to the Arishok regarding the Qunari strategy to Tevinter. The argument "went on for some time and was notable, not only because Qunari argue so rarely, but because it is unheard of for an officer of any rank to disagree with the Arishok". The Arishok dismissed the notion, but it nevertheless startled the Tevinter spy present; for the Qunari learning subtlety or political ability presented a worrying thought.

Proving himself an honorable and valuable member of the beresaad, Sten earned the Arishok 's trust and was entrusted to investigate rumors of a Blight in southern Fereldan. Sten has been imprisoned for killing a family.

The Warden can convince him to seek atonement by joining the battle against the Blight , but must find a way to release him from his cage. If he is not freed the quest is updated indicating that he died by the darkspawn horde. Sten is a strong, proud and noble warrior who refuses at first to elaborate on discussions regarding his people or his reason for being in Ferelden.

Most of his comments are terse or abrupt, but he does seem to have at least a little bit of a sense of humor as demonstrated in some conversations with the Warden's companions and a fondness for cookies. Sten is a fatalist, believing that the proper role of all people is determined at birth. He alludes to his fatalist beliefs in his first conversation with the Warden at camp, saying that he did not "choose" to be a warrior, just as the Warden did not "choose the circumstances you find yourself in".

Sten believes it is the duty of every person to embrace their predetermined role in society in order to be in harmony with the world. Sten justifies his fatalist beliefs by arguing that it would be foolish to expect the world to change in order to suit one's desires and thus must change oneself in order to suit the world. Sten believes that wisdom is as vital to life as breathing, but the only way to attain wisdom is to seek it out and discern it from life's experiences.

Sten disapproves of the Chantry because it encourages its followers to be complacent in the Maker 's intervention or influence to solve their problems rather than seek out the wisdom to solve it themselves.

Although the Warden can argue that faith in a higher power can inspire people to change, Sten argues that sometimes people use faith as an excuse not to change. Sten thinks that life outside of the Qun is cruel since the people have no Tamassrans to guide them on how to seek wisdom or find their proper role in life.

Since people outside the Qun are not raised to know themselves or what they are for, they will most likely clash against the world and struggle in life. Furthermore, because the Qunari are trained to serve the interests of the collective Qunari and not of the individual, Sten is devoted to the protection and upholding of Qunari values and society.

Sten thinks anything that subverts Qunari culture can lead to devastating ruin and thus views treacherous anti-Qunari men with the same severity as a plague or natural disaster. It is for this reason that Sten dehumanizes Tal-Vashoth and kill them in order to protect his people. Sten is certain that the Antaam will one day invade the lands of Thedas in order to convert them to the enlightenment of the Qun but seems to regret its necessity as he hopes he does not live to see that day.

In Redcliffe , recruiting Lloyd and Berwick into the local militia appeals to Sten's views of honor and duty, even if it requires resorting to intimidation. However, if the Warden chooses to travel to the Circle of Magi to get the mages' assistance in entering the Fade to save Connor , and Sten is in the active party when the mages start the ceremony, he will express a disgust for magic As he carries himself with a self-assured, hardened demeanor, and has a tall and imposing physique, Leliana is surprised to discover through banter conversation that Sten does have a softer side, and he can develop a perhaps unexpected fondness for Dog.

Standing up to Sten during conversation usually results in an increase in his approval of the Warden. Should the Warden earn enough of Sten's respect, he will reveal to the Warden that the reason he was caged in Lothering was because he had lost his sword Asala.

In the quest The Sword of the Beresaad , the Warden can track down Sten's missing sword and return it to him.
