And for that, we might as well call them rocket scientists. But what do the Tempur-Pedic mattresses look like today? We jumped into bed with the memory foam masters to size up their current line of mattresses. It has fewer customization options than its counterparts and is designed to be equal parts soft and supportive.
Construction: According to the company, one foam layer is designed to be soft and responsive, while the layer beneath is designed to conform to your body and relieve any pressure points while you sleep. What reviewers say: Most reviewers agree this mattress strikes the perfect balance between supportive and soft and really is like sleeping on a cloud. The cover also has antimicrobial elements that protect the mattress from the usual allergen suspects like dust mites and mold.
What reviewers say: Reviewers say they wake up feeling rested and refreshed with fewer aches and pains. But some people complain of feeling stuck and not being able to get comfortable. Under pressure? Construction: You can choose between a hybrid and an all-foam mattress — the hybrid version comes in medium firmness, and the all-foam version comes in soft, medium, or firm.
The firmness of each mattress is determined by the material used in the comfort and support layers. And the cover is cooling, antimicrobial, and washable. Hello, freshness! What reviewers say: Reviewers praise the pressure relief, saying it has helped with shoulder, hip, and back pain. But others say the mattress gives a little too much support and is firmer than they wanted it to be.
Need a hug? Side sleepers will probably find the soft more comfy, and back sleepers are more likely to dig the firm. Plus, the cooling, antimicrobial cover zips off for easy washing. Below is a table that summarises the array of sleeping positions that are best suited to each of the TempurPedic mattresses relative to their firmnesses and design.
The adaptive qualities of the foam used by TempurPedic makes their mattresses some of the best at relieving pressure on the more angular areas of your body like your shoulders and hips.
Sinking further into the materials can help to alleviate this by dissipating the pressure away from your joints and through the materials. If you sleep as a couple and you are fed up of waking each other up during the night as you shuffle around, then the all-foam versions of the TempurPedic range are a good choice because they dampen movement very well and are very quiet due to the lack of springs.
TempurPedic are the pioneers of memory foam mattresses, basing their foams on the original design of the memory foam used by NASA to help adsorb the g-force on their astronauts during shuttle launches — with further advancements that makes the foam specifically designed for mattress use.
This means that you can expect your TempurPedic mattresses to last longer than such knock-offs — potentially lasting up to years on average with the correct care. The addition of the springs in the hybrid beds may help to increase the durability even more over the TempurPedic all-foam designs.
This is likely better than lying on the mattress in the store for a few minutes because it can take up to a month or more for the materials to adapt to your body shape and dominant sleeping position. Below are some of the considerations that you might like to weigh against the pros before you finalise your decision to buy a TempurPedic mattress. Because the springs can help with buoyancy whilst the firmer feel can help to increase the surface tension of the mattress which may make switching sleeping positions easier.
This means that the foams have been tested to ensure that in addition to being free from toxic chemicals like formaldehyde, VOC levels have been tested to ensure that they are below 0. But when compared to mattresses that do not contain memory foam or polyfoam, TempurPedic mattresses may have the capacity to produce a relatively stronger odor. TempurPedic say that their mattresses are not designed to be used with your existing box spring or a slatted base — under penalty of voiding the warranty.
Below is a comparison of how much you can expect to pay for a queen sized TempurPedic mattress bought directly from TempurPedic.
This can help you to better understand if it makes sense for you to pay more for a TempurPedic mattress or not. Please note that the TempurPedic prices below are correct at the time of writing but may be subject to change and do not include discounts, whilst the price ranges for the other mattresses are highly approximated and you may find mattresses of varying quality that are much cheaper or more expensive when shopping around.
And whilst the likes of SweetNight do make decent quality memory foam mattresses at a much cheaper price, I would say that paying more for a TempurPedic mattress when compared to many of the other budget foam mattresses on the market is worth it.
In which case it may make sense to go for a TempurPedic all-foam or hybrid spring mattress if it suits your sleeping style and you want a more durable mattress. This means that a latex mattress could cost you around the same as a TempurPedic mattress, depending on the models being compared.

About 3 years ago my husband and I began thinking, perhaps we needed a new mattress. The hotel beds began to feel better than our bed at home and we were sleeping on a Tempurpedic 15 years old then at home! Aches and pains of the mornings! Goldilocks went bed shopping 6 weeks ago.
Trying to be budget conscious, tried a Casper Hybrid, sent it back; next a Nectar, sent it back. Forgot the budget, went to the Tempurpedic store. First off -- growing up I simply had a bed. Nothing special - no thought given to whether it was soft or hard or anything other than it was a twin size. Fast forward to age twenty and I purchased a pillow top mattress. Thought it was the best thing ever!
Til now - Since purchasing my Tempur-Pedic I'm now a spoiled girl! Best sleep I've ever gotten and so it goes without saying that my next mattress will also be a Tempur-Pedic -- more money but worth it!! We decided to invest in a Tempur-Pedic. Of course we had to finance it since it was initially out of our range. But you know what? We did it! We play with the settings to our desired setting which so far has been a gods send.
Love it. I recommend the investment on your overall health is an understatement.. My now husband purchased a queen-sized Rhapsody in I have suffered poor sleep quality and neck and back pain since sleeping on it a few months since getting married and moving in. Our request to honor the warranty was escalated several times, culminating in a call from a company rep and she once again refused to do anything more and declined honoring their warranty.
I recommend staying away from purchasing a mattress from Tempur-Pedic, and to spend your money a better quality mattress that will hold up and has a reputation for upholding their warranty.
I received Tempurpedic LuxBreeze mattress today and immediately tried to go on the recommended web page given in order to register it. The web address was not found, so I called the customer service number. After verifying my purchase information, I was told I needed to give them the serial number to activate the warranty. I was told this was not on any paperwork I had received, but that I would have to lift up and search for it underneath the mattress.
As a 70 year old woman, this is not possible. So I was told I should call someone to help me lift it! Therefore I was told my mattress could not be registered. For the cost of the mattress and the long wait for delivery, I certainly expected better customer service and a warranty as promised.
Ordered this bed on July Estimated ship date was Aug 1. Never heard anything. A month passed, still nothing from tempurpedic. I call and wait 50 min to talk with someone. They say it should ship soon.
It gets delivered to the company and nobody calls for over a week. At this point I have payments due on the bed. I call tempurpedic, wait 50 min to talk to someone. The next day we are able to get the local delivery company on the phone.
We call tempurpedic and they say they are going to figure it out and get back to me. A week goes by and I hear nothing. I call tempurpedic and wait 40 min to talk to someone. No tracking number shows up. I call again and wait 55 min to talk with someone. They tell me that the bed will ship on Oct
